Plant medicines invite us to slow down
Something I love about plant medicines—from herbs to psychedelics—is how they gently inspire a shift in our approach to wellbeing. In particular, plants invite us to embrace slowness.
This is especially true with the more “subtle” herbs like rose, rosemary, or calendula. While potent in their own right, their effects may not be immediately obvious. Experiencing the healing power of these plants requires attentively observing the subtle shifts they create in our minds and bodies. This process invites us to nurture a spirit of curiosity, playfulness, and patience.
In my work with clients, I’ve witnessed how intentional use of plant medicines can catalyse profound healing and transformation. But this process often unfolds gradually, which can challenge our attachment to quick fixes.
There are no shortcuts to experiencing the physical, mental, and spiritual healing power of plants but embracing this slowness can be a beautiful counterbalance to the rush of the modern world.
